Description

ENPP2 (ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family member 2) is a member of the nucleotide pyrophosphatase/ phosphodiesterase family that are involved in hydrolysis of extracellular nucleotides. This family ectoenzymes are single-pass type II transmembrane proteins with ATPase and ATP pyrophosphatase activities. ENPP2 is secreted and further processed to produce the biologically active form. ENPP2 functions as both a phosphodiesterase, which cleaves phosphodiester bonds at the 5' end of oligonucleotides, and a phospholipase, which catalyzes production of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in extracellular fluids. LPA induces growth factor-like responses including stimulation of cell proliferation and chemotaxis. ENPP2 is involved in several motility-related processes such as angiogenesis and neurite outgrowth. It acts as an angiogenic factor by stimulating migration of smooth muscle cells and microtubule formation. ENPP2 may stimulate the motility of tumor cells with angiogenic properties, and its expression is upregulated in several types of cancer.

Primers: Gene insert coding sequence can be confirmed by following primers:

(a) forward (or 5'-end) primer: 5’-CAAATGGGCGGTAGGCGTG-3’;

(b) reverse (or 3'-end) primer: 5’-CGGGAAGCAATAGCATGATA-3’

Note: The sequence may vary due to the naturally occurring variants or mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphism, or the artifact during PCR amplification.  High fidelity PCR systems should always be used.
