B2M (beta-2-microglobulin) is a secreted protein found in association with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I heavy chain on the surface of nearly all nucleated cells. The MHC-I:B2M complex is involved in the presentation of peptide antigens to the immune system.  B2M contains an Ig (immunoglobulin)-like C1-type domain in the extracelllular region. B2M has a predominantly beta-pleated sheet structure that can form amyloid fibrils in some pathological conditions. Polymers of B2M can be found in tissues from patients on long-term hemodialysis. B2M alone (when not in complex with MHC-I) interacts with M.tuberculosis EsxA (ESAT-6) and an EsxA-EsxB (CFP-10) complex; the tripartite complex can be detected in the host endoplasmic reticulum. The B2M-EsxA complex can be detected in patients with pleural tuberculosis.B2M displays antibacterial activity in amniotic fluid. A mutation in the B2M gene has been shown to result in hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia.

Construct Details: Full length human B2M gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles.

Storage

 

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months. 

 

 

Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
