Human HTR2C/HTR1C/5-HT1C/5-HT2C Gene, Full-length cDNA Clone in Lentivector, Endotoxin-free DNA

HTR2C (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 2C), also known as HTR1C, 5-HT2C/5-HTR2C, belongs to the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor subfamily of the 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor 1 (GPCR1) family.  HTR2C acts as a receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a multifunctional neurotransmitter, and for various ergot alkaloid derivatives and psychoactive substances.  Serotonin binding causes a conformation change in HTR2C that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors.  The mRNA of the HTR2C gene is subject to multiple RNA editing events and predicted to alter the structure of the second intracellular loop, thereby generating protein forms with decreased ability to interact with G proteins. Abnormalities in RNA editing of HTR2C have been detected in victims of suicide that suffer from depression. Naturally-occuring variation in this gene may be associated with mental illness and behavioral disorders.  HTR2C may also play a role in the regulation of appetite and eating behavior and in insulin sensitivity and glucose homeostasis.

Construct Details: Full length human HTR2C gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months.
