Human SSTR5/SS5R Gene, Full-length cDNA Clone in Lentivector, Endotoxin-free DNA
Somatostatins are peptide hormones that regulate many biological functions including neurotransmission, cell proliferation, and endocrine signaling as well as inhibiting the release of hormones and other secretory proteins. Somatostatin has two active forms of 14 and 28 amino acids. The biological effects of somatostatins are mediated by a family of 7-transmembrane somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 (GPCR1) superfamily. SSTRs are expressed in a tissue-specific manner. They usually form homodimers and heterodimers with other family members as well as with other GPCRs and receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). SSTR5 is a member of the SSTR family with higher affinity for somatostatin 28 and to a lesser extent for somatostatin-14. The activity of SSTR5 is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. SSTR5 increases cell growth inhibition activity of SSTR2 following heterodimerization. A mutation in the SSTR5 gene results in somatostatin analog resistance.

Construct Details: Full length human SSTR5 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells. It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months.
