LY75 (Lymphocyte antigen 75), also known as CD205 and CLEC13B (C-type lectin domain family 13 member B), is a single-pass type I transmembrane protein of the C-type lectin superfamily. LY75/CD205 contains 10 C-type lectin domains, 1 fibronectin type-II domain and 1 ricin B-type lectin domain in the extracellular region. LY75/CD205 is expressed in spleen, thymus, colon and peripheral blood lymphocytes. It is detected in myeloid and B-lymphoid cell lines. This LY75-CD302 gene locus represents naturally occurring read-through transcription between the neighboring LY75 and CD302 genes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants of LY75 encoding fusion products that share sequence identity with each individual gene product. The isoform 2 (produced by intergenic splicing of LY75 and CD302) and isoform 3 of LY75/CD205 are expressed in malignant Hodgkin lymphoma cells called Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells. LY75/CD205 acts as an endocytic receptor to direct captured antigens from the extracellular space to a specialized antigen-processing compartment. Its signaling activity causes reduced proliferation of B-lymphocytes.

Construct Details: Full length human CD205 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells. It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.
