SLC39A6 (solute carrier family 39 member 6), also known as Estrogen-regulated protein LIV-1 and Zinc transporter ZIP6, is a six-pass type I transmembrane protein belonging to the ZIP transporter (TC 2.A.5) family. SLC39A6 shows structural characteristics of zinc transporters and may act as a zinc-influx transporter. Zinc is an essential cofactor for hundreds of enzymes. It is involved in protein, nucleic acid, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism, as well as in the control of gene transcription, growth, development, and differentiation. SLC39A6 is highly expressed in the breast, prostate, placenta, kidney, pituitary and corpus callosum and also highly expressed in cells derived from an adenocarcinoma of the cervix and lung carcinoma. It is up-regulated by estrogen in breast cancer cells lines.
Gene Symbol: SLC39A6; ZIP6; hZIP6; LIV-1; ZIP-6
NCBI Gene ID: 25800
Uniprot Entry: Q13433
Construct Details: Full length human SLC39A6 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells. It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.
Vector Type: pLTC or pLTC-IRES-Marker (lentiviral expression vector containing a heterologous CMV promoter +/- a selection marker, see the vector map above)
Formulation: Supplied with 10 μg of endotoxin-free plasmid DNA at 200 ng/μl in sterile TE buffer (pH8.0)
Gene Insert Size: 2268 (bp)

Primers: Gene insert coding sequence can be confirmed by following primers:
(a) forward (or 5'-end) primer: 5’-CAAATGGGCGGTAGGCGTG-3’;
(b) reverse (or 3'-end) primer: 5’-CCAGGTTTCCGGGCCCTCAC-3’
Note: The sequence may vary due to the naturally occurring variants or mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphism, or the artifact during PCR amplification. High fidelity PCR systems should always be used.
