Somatostatins are peptide hormones that regulate many biological functions including neurotransmission, cell proliferation, and endocrine signaling as well as inhibiting the release of hormones and other secretory proteins. Somatostatin has two active forms of 14 and 28 amino acids. The biological effects of somatostatins are mediated by a family of 7-transmembrane somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 (GPCR1) superfamily. SSTRs are expressed in a tissue-specific manner. They usually form homodimers and heterodimers with other family members as well as with other GPCRs and receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). SSTR2 is a member of the SSTR family with greater affinity for somatostatin-14 than -28. SSTR2 is coupled via pertussis toxin sensitive G proteins to inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. SSTR2 also stimulates phosphotyrosine phosphatase and PLC.  SSTR2 inhibits calcium entry by suppressing voltage-dependent calcium channels. SSTR2 also acts as the functionally dominant somatostatin receptor in pancreatic alpha- and beta-cells

Construct Details: Full length human SSTR2 gene is subcloned into the Lentiviral expression vector pLTC with an upstream CMV promoter and with or without a selection marker, which can be used for both transient and stable expression in mammalian cells.  It can be co-transfected with the LentiPAK DNA mix (SKU# LP-001) into HEK293 cells to produce high titer lentiviral particles. Multiple choices of a stable antibiotic selection marker are available.

Storage

 

The product is shipped at 4°C. Upon receipt, centrifuge the product briefly before opening the vial. It is recommended to store small aliquots at the temperature below –20°C for long-term storage and the product is stable for 6 months. 

 

 

 

Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
